What do I need to know about Registration?
Volunteer registration times vary by committee. Check with your director or with Headquarters for your designated time.
Participant registration will be 5:30pm to 6:30pm, Sunday, July 27, 2008. Registration will close promptly at 6:45pm so all can go to the Opening Ceremonies. Those arriving after 6:30pm will need to wait until after Opening Ceremony to register. Follow signs to the designated registration area on University of Louisville campus. Bring all luggage to registration, don't leave them in the car.

What do I need to know about the Opening Ceremony?
Opening Ceremony! So that all participants can march in the Opening Ceremony, we strongly encourage you to arrive for registration between 5:30pm and 6:30pm on Sunday, July 27, 2008. We will close registration promptly at 6:45pm because all personnel are required to be at the Opening Ceremony at 7:00pm. Late arrivals will be required to wait until after the Opening Ceremony to register.

What do I need to know about the Closing Ceremony?
Closing Ceremony! All parents, guardians, and families are invited to the Closing Ceremony at the end of the festival for a special tribute to our participants and volunteers for their week of hard work. Closing Ceremony is on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at 1:00pm. Afterwards, all participants will be released to their parents at the education building, where they may pick up their luggage and belongings, AFTER checking out with the coaches. For security reasons, the dorm will be closed all day Saturday, until after closing ceremony.

What do I need to know about the Belle of Louisville?
Wednesday evening, July 30, 2008, after dinner, all participants and volunteers will ride the Belle of Louisville. If your family or friends wish to ride the Belle with us, they are welcome. The cost is $5 for admission regardless of age. Children under the age of 2 are free. Dress casual, and bring a jacket because it can get cool at night.

What do I need to know about Arrivals and Departures?
As you make your plans to be part of the team this year please be aware of the following important details. Arrivals and Departures! We need to know when and how you will be arriving and leaving so that all transportation can be arranged. If we do not hear from you we expect that you will arrive with your parents or designated guardian.

Coming from east: Take I-64 West or I-71 South onto I-65 South
Exit on Arthur Street
Stay on until you get to Brandeis/Cardinal Blvd (two names for same street)
Turn right onto Brandeis/Cardinal Blvd to Music School located on left side
Coming from west: Because of the construction on I-64 in Louisville, please take the
following route:
Take I-64 East to I-265 East to I-65 South
Exit on Arthur Street

What is the Dress Code?
For safety reason, during sporting events all participants are required to wear sneakers (gym shoes) and their team color jersey for identification. Modest sports clothes are acceptable, such as shorts and sweat pants. Unacceptable clothing includes (but is not limited to) bare midriff, short shorts, sagging pants or shorts, clothing with inappropriate pictures or words. If in doubt, DON’T.
For your child's safety, ALL piercings must be removed during competitions! NO EXCEPTIONS!

What do I need to know about the Friday night dance/banquet?
Participants and Volunteers who pay $100 or more are free. Parents, relatives and friends are welcome to join us at a cost of $50.00 per person. This is a fundraising evening and has Guest Deaf Artists, Disco Music, along with Dinner. The theme is "Thanks for the Memories". Dress is nice casual.

Are electronic devices allowed?
The use of cell phones, pagers, game boys, or any other electronic device by participants is strictly prohibited during sporting events and other activities. Devices brought to MDO must remain in the dorm room or they will be confiscated and held until after closing ceremony. MDO accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to any personal property brought to MDO.

As a parent, what information do I need to know?
In order for the children to gain confidence and realize their potential for growth emotionally and socially, parents are not permitted on participant floors in the dormitory from Opening Ceremony until after Closing Ceremony.
Due to the importance of the flow of competition and team building, please make arrangements for your child to participate during the entire week. Participants may not leave (except for documented medical reason) until after closing ceremonies.
